When the Segway Human Transporter was introduced, its supporters swore that the goofy-looking, yet technologically advanced vehicle would change the world. Yet despite the hype, the self-balancing Segway became more of an expensive oddity than a revolutionary shot heard around the world.
Still, in the five years since it debuted, plenty of people have fallen for (and off) Segways—from presidents, to police departments, to guided tours. And whenever something happens on (or off) a Segway, the Buzz feels the impact.
The latest installment in the saga is speculation about a public stock offering of Segway, Inc. Based on this recent news, searches for "segway" rolled up 750%, transporting the human transporter into the top 2,000 searches. A Segway IPO could be years down the road. But who knows? If Search trends offer any kind of road sign, Segway may have a shot at joining the high rollers on the stock exchange. Here's hoping the thrills outnumber the spills for investors.

Just what pedestrians--especially senior pedestrians--need! This infernal machine bumping them off the sidewalks! (Sounds humorous until one of them is your parent).

Hahah-Gob from arrested development is who I think of too when I see these things---they are so annoying looking and bulky even Gob's own mother wanted to crash into him on purpose when she saw him on the road!

I had a chance to ride one of these. In order to stop you have to lean back but not too far or you will go in reverse. It wasn't the easiest thing to ride.
What they need to do is attached a brake on the handles like a bicyle .
And yes it can tip over regardless of what they say about the gyro's keeping you upright

Ridiculous garbage.
The USPS spent a million dollars on a STUDY for the effectiveness of Segways. A million dollars later their findings were common sense: not every route is perfect flat land; it can't go up steps; rough sidewalks are hazardous.
Change the name to Stupid Human Ignorant Transporter.

None of you understand why the Segway was even invented. Stop acting like a bunch of fools and research as to what the Segway is for. Dean Kamen, the inventor, is my hero.
