Buzz Makes Up

Military recruiters thought they had a tough job. But when it comes to enlistment and deployment, the Army could take a page from two giants of the cosmetics-industrial complex: Avon and Mary Kay. These makeup powerhouses truly know how to draft new blood; make house calls; and maintain a sweet-smelling, rosy-cheeked, powerful force.

In recent years, both firms set up shop in China. Both contribute to the $29.7 billion that the direct-sales industry earns in the U.S. each year. And both have sophisticated web sites. But when the two beauty warriors face off, things can get ugly. In a question on Yahoo! Answers over "which is better," Mary Kay earned "best answer," though Avon picked up some passionate support. So how does the Avon lady fare against the Mary Kay girl when it comes to Search? Here's how it played out...

wait till Arbonne International hits the household on a daily basis as these two. These two will take the back seat. :o)

What's missing here is the even better choice: Arbonne. The products are botanically based, made in the USA, have proven results, contain no artificial fragrances or colors and no animal products or testing. Check out arbonne.com

And as for the best car here: A white Mercedes of choice.

I fail to see how Mary Kay "won"? Least in Avon, all the products, which were ordered by distributors were actually SOLD. In Mary Kay, the name of the game is fast becoming frontloading of inventory by distributors.

March - June mark the last quarter in Mary Kay where June 29 & 30 are the highest "selling days" and coincidentally they are also the days whereby a record number of directors "finish" their qualification.

I was one of those directors - and my story is at The Pinking Shears at www.thepinkingshears.org net or com.

If you are even thinking about Mary Kay - read this site and join our groups!

I Agree alley_kat, Arbonne is the better choice and these two will take the back seat. :O-)

Interesting! After reading the article comparing Avon and Mary Kay and reading the Mary Kay "hate" site - Pinking Shears - I'd have to say there are some DUMB women out there. It is the rare women who have become huge successes in a short amount of time in their businesses. It takes hard work wherever we work - corporate or own business. Would you expect when you start a new corporate job and the CEO tells you how great you are that you'll be earning $100K overnight? Maybe a FEW do, but not the majorty. Common sense. If someone doesn't have a brain of their own and uses credit and messes up their financial situation to buy product because they feel "pressured" to do so, I say "GROW UP!" Where's your backbone? If you don't have the money, don't buy it. If you feel pressure from someone, just say NO! How hard is that? I think the women who feel they got scammed in Mary Kay are not the type who could ever own their own business - USE YOUR BRAIN and maybe then you could succeed in any business and not sound like whiny, complaining women. I like the fact that both companies are long-standing, and relationship-oriented. I like Avon's nail color and prefer Mary Kay's skincare line, and Arbonne's spa line.

Many "Newcomers" have come and gone but Avon and MK will ALWAYS be the top sellers! They are names that will carry on forever! The problem with Airbonne is that although they have good products it's too expensive to keep replacing.
I've tried it but prefer Avon. They have improved their skin care products and are reasonable to replace.

Another company to consider, and obviously not as well known, is BeautiControl. They are based in a Dallas suburb and bought out by Tupperware some years back. Awesome products. Skin care, spa line, cosmetics, mens line. My clients just love my spa parties.

I've been told that in MK if you dont keep up your sales you, at some point, have to give your pink car back. In BC, you get a mustang and its yours forever. I'm a consultant for BC and do pretty well for myself. Never had a complaint on any product and the monthly Achiever magazine is filled with consultants all over the country as well as new products to offer my clients.

I've tried Arbonne skin care as well when my mother signed on as a consultant. I loved the product in the RE line but it was way out of my budget.

AVON is by far the best! We have cutting-edge skincare products that are not only affordable they are also botanically based - such as Anew Alternative for example. We also have a large variety of giftables for all members of the family, not just beauty products. We have a national advertising campaign in print and on TV, I don't see this with the other companies. While the other companies have good product, I just see Avon as the better option!

To abilenealli,

My wife always offers the 35% off sign-up to all potential Arbonne clients. The sign up is $29 for the first year, $15/yr after that. The RE9 is an excellent system, but not everyone knows about the wholesale discount.

I HAVE TO AGREE, ARBONNE IS THE BETTER CHOICE HERE. BUT AVON DOES HAVE THE MORE AFFORDABLE PRICES. PLUS THEY ALSO HAVE REALLY COOL COLORS TOO. EVEN THOUGH ARBONNE IS EXPENSIVE, THE WAY YOUR FACE LOOKS AND FEELS IS PRICELESS !!!!!
