Still B.I.G. in Buzz

It's been 10 years since the East Coast/West Coast rap feud claimed a high-profile victim. The shooting death of Notorious B.I.G. stunned the rap world and robbed hip-hop of one of its brightest talents. Searches on the legendary rapper are up 10% over the last month as fans remember a truly gifted original.

Examining the demographics of B.I.G. searches turned up a couple of interesting nuggets. First up, about 40% of all his searches come from the 13-17 age bracket—so 4 out of 10 searchers were just tykes when B.I.G. was in his prime. And although he's perceived as not getting any props on the West coast, he's made inroads. Los Angeles is currently number three when it comes to metro interest in the notorious one, right after D.C. and NYC.

Searches on "biggie" and "biggie smalls" are also creeping up the charts. With so many handles, it's difficult to keep up with the B.I.G.'s burgeoning buzz. While he's not at Tupac's level, his impact is still obvious. Here are the Biggie searches looming largest this week...

  1. Notorious B.I.G. lyrics
  2. Notorious B.I.G. biography
  3. Notorious B.I.G. pictures
  4. Notorious B.I.G. greatest hits
  5. Notorious B.I.G. videos
