It's been 10 years since the East Coast/West Coast rap feud claimed a high-profile victim. The shooting death of Notorious B.I.G. stunned the rap world and robbed hip-hop of one of its brightest talents. Searches on the legendary rapper are up 10% over the last month as fans remember a truly gifted original.
Examining the demographics of B.I.G. searches turned up a couple of interesting nuggets. First up, about 40% of all his searches come from the 13-17 age bracket—so 4 out of 10 searchers were just tykes when B.I.G. was in his prime. And although he's perceived as not getting any props on the West coast, he's made inroads. Los Angeles is currently number three when it comes to metro interest in the notorious one, right after D.C. and NYC.
Searches on "biggie" and "biggie smalls" are also creeping up the charts. With so many handles, it's difficult to keep up with the B.I.G.'s burgeoning buzz. While he's not at Tupac's level, his impact is still obvious. Here are the Biggie searches looming largest this week...
- Notorious B.I.G. lyrics
- Notorious B.I.G. biography
- Notorious B.I.G. pictures
- Notorious B.I.G. greatest hits

It's hard to say what is truly thought of about B.I.G. In the less metro area, there is nothing, absolutely nothing. He is a thug to many, to most who truly can separate the talented from the money grabbing crowd. He is as insignifacant as those who stepped before him. That is not to say that he was not loved, but was given too much attention because of the mere fact that he was black. He had little, if any talent whatsoever. He was a figure, not an artist. Anyone who says other is purely ignorant on the matter. He lived up to the expectation that he preached. Hate, hate and some more hate. The world is a much better place without him!

Well I think part of the rise is due to comedy central's South Park. He was recently brought up in a episode in November, and a sizable demographic is contained in the age group listed above.

I think its great people still listen to his music and especially read his lyrics because Biggie Smalls is a great rapper and teaching us about life thru his rap. I could say the same thing about EMIN3M also #1 rapper for me...they both talk about life even tho theres bad lyrics and stuff but its reality shown thru emotions and music and their own talent. And talking about biggies death...there's Tupac too...Too bad they had to split up at the end when they were best friends first coz both of them have the greatest hits and best music that we will always remember.

Officials in the Los Angeles Police Department have already leaked information confirming beliefs that the off duty gun of Former LAPD Officer Dave Mack was used in the killing of Biggie Smalls or Chris Wallace. Dave Mack's hobby was hip-hop and his off duty job allowed him to exactly where biggie would be on the night of his death. Officer Macks car was seen leaving the shooting area quickly after shots were heard.
