In the legendarily fickle world of style, the Air Jordan reigns supreme. Since its debut eons ago (like, 1985) Nike's powerhouse shoe has maintained a firm rubber footing at the top of what's cool, what sells, and what makes buzz jump.
Last month, several versions of the sneaker's latest edition, the Air Jordan XXII or "XX2," sallied forth. And searches did the same. Buzz for "air jordans," "air jordan shoes," and "air jordan release dates" leapt. Proving its strength with the elusive teen demographic, the sneaker drew nearly half its buzz from kids between the ages of 13 and 17.
Those same youth hipsters surely played a role in creating the equally impressive number of searches for older versions of the kicks. Over the past week alone, demand for "retro air jordans" and "rare air jordans" logged some seriously high stats. Thousands of optmimists also turned to the Web to hunt down "cheap air jordans." Search on, bargain shoppers!
More Jordans—new and vintage-style—hit store shelves this month. Assuming the moon sets, the sun rises, and the Earth turns on its axis, buzz for "air jordans" will go flying as well.
