Jindal Jumps Into the Governor's Chair
Newly elected Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is young. In fact, the 36-year-old, who is still serving as a U.S. Representative, is the country's youngest governor.
Jindal campaigned heavily on a platform to end corruption in Louisiana. In a state where many an elected official has ended his term in jail, Jindal struck a chord with the citizenry. The Republican candidate won 53% of the vote. In Search, Jindal jumped to a spot in the top 500 searches with a 726% surge. Related query spikes came in for his biography, wife, and career as a member of the House of Representatives.
Jindal also happens to be the first Indian-American governor in the United States. He's the first nonwhite governor in Louisiana since P.B.S. Pinchback held the office for 35 days in the 1870s. With his youth and distinctions, Jindal should have plenty of opportunity to pop up in the Buzz again—hopefully, under better circumstances than many of his predecessors.
