Disney owns childhood. At least, the empire of juvenility rules in what kids watch. The latest to join its Disney Channel clan is “Wizards of Waverly Place.” While the comedy of three wizards-in-training carries Potteresque overtones, the Magic Kingdom knows that the love for magic runs eternal in children’s imaginations.
The show, which debuted mid-October, has conjured up a 752% surge in searches. Still, "Wizards" has a ways to go before it reaches the popularity enjoyed by other kids’ programs. Big sister “Hannah Montana” currently commands a tenfold lead over “Wizards.” If the apprentices plot an ascendance, they'll have to make a lot of other kids' shows disappear.

Even though the Disney Channel and Nick are suggested for "KIDS" , we feel most shows still have a little more than a seven year old is ready for....maybe teenagers....???

Nick really screwed up with LazyTown. Was their #1 show in the US for a long time (and still massive in the UK). It's movie at 8pm got three and half million viewers in August 2005. The rumor is that Viacom/Nick wanted more of the slice of the money from the UK along with the other international markets where the shows going great and when LazyTown Inc. wouldn't budge Viacom as punishment then shelved the show to Noggin and no new DVD releases in the US forever along with never showing the last 8 un-aired episodes in the US (and not financing new eps). Which means no promotion for the toys, books and other LT items. The US being a huge if not the biggest market kills a lot of money they both could be making. Nick is screwed a little more because of all the Dora and Diego recalls. Don't see the LT toys recalled? Nick has lost a lot and will continue to lose 10's of millions on the recalls. Meanwhile they've got a goldmine in LazyTown, their costumes on the NickJr shop are always best sellers, with no promotion!!
