Time for a Time Change?

By Mike Krumboltz
Tue, October 30, 2007, 5:09 am PDT

Sunday is usually a day of rest, not a day of panic. But panic is exactly what happened this past weekend when unsuspecting folks discovered they didn't know what time it was.

The decision to extend daylight saving time an extra week caused the confusion. Apparently, not everyone got the new schedule. Many people who expected to "fall back" on Sunday morning discovered they'd jumped the gun and were an hour off.

Chaos reigned as the Search box was overrun with frantic questions about daylight saving time. Is it over? (Answer—no.) When does it end? (Next week.) And, most importantly, what time is it right now? (Well, Timmy, that depends.)

For now, it appears the confusion has subsided. Folks are going about their business blissfully unaware that this coming Sunday their worlds will once again be turned upside down by a (real) time change. Heed our warning! The end of daylight saving time is nigh!

DST was, is, and always will be, a dumb idea. If you want to "save daylight", here's how to do it - open and close your office/school/whatever earlier!

I think the should stop it all together. It is not saving anything. When are they going to smarten up?

I think that it is great that "Daylight Savings Time" is to be extended an extra week. This helps in many ways. But, I wish the information was given to us in a much better way. I'm still surprise that there weren't more people complaining about the change.

a time change causes chaos??!!!! are you kidding me??!! idiots!!!!

I have talked to several people that were confused about the time change. Also, people with clocks like "smart set" which set themselves changed last weekend, and there is not way to change this setting, this causes a problem each spring and fall. One week does not make a difference, so put it back the way it was!

I think it is just one of the things Daniels decided to change. We can stop him from changing our time and selling out Indiana. Just remember this when he comes up for election.

DST should be abolished across the country. I live in Arizona and we don't change our clocks and have no issues. We aren't a farming country anymore and if your worried about the kids waiting for the bus in the dark install some lights if there isn't one there already!

I am all about DST getting abolished. It is more trouble than it's worth. Call me an idiot if you like, but I didn't know what time it was on Sunday. All of our clocks had smart set, and had set themselves back one hour. Unfortunately for me, I work on Sunday mornings, and was an hour late without even knowing it. I had no idea that something had happened until after I left the house, then on the way to work, some public clocks read 6:00 and some read 7:00. Lucky for me, my boss is more understanding than rayburn23.

It is a travesty to ever change the time. The golfer-playboy types and very few others benefit. Who else, what
else benefits. I am a retired school administrator and feel that school children - definitely a large percentage of the American population - would be better served by NOT
changing to daylight savings time. As a former lobbyist for a large professional organization I know that what talks is not the common good, but $, so I have NO hope that the common good will ever be served in America as long as $ does the talking - and you would revolt if you knew just how much it does.
