Idol Talk: American Reject

Rejected "Idol" Singer Commands the Most Searches

Shockers, leaks, and ringers—and "American Idol" hasn't even started the electoral process yet. This season's abbreviated Hollywood round cut down on both the drama and the onscreen bonding moments.

Next week, Fox viewers become voters, but some may already be disappointed with their choices. Amid the rush to find the "american idol 2008 top 24" (+942%), some like Carly Smithson and Michael Johns (who have had record deals) weren't surprises. The lachrymose Josiah Leming was another story: The early-on Search favorite impressed with his song choices, spurring searches "grace kelly lyrics" (+136%) and Brit artist Mika (aka Mica Penniman). Alas, the homeless hopeful got dumped. The shocking dismissal ricocheted him into the top 2,500 searches that day, ironically giving him the highest Buzz profile of the chosen 24.

As for the remaining talent pool, Ryan Seacrest harped all week about how strong the competitors were this time. "Idol" remains behind in ratings compared to last season, but buzz may be more forgiving: Unlike this same time last year, many individual singers are already sparking online interest. Stay tuned to see which contestants take the lead in Search.

I am not sharing the same feelings as Ryan.Last Season had the best performers.I am very dissapointed and was becoming a fan of American Idol until I saw the Final 24.Shame on the Panel. You should Listen to Simon more often.I maybe wrong but I thought this show was about people that had talent and the panel went to cities to pick them out,not people that have already been their and where not successful.Simon may we suggest that you do better backgrounds on these contestants.I found myself like most Americans watching a show that gave people that normally would not have a shot or the means to get to the level of Stardom.Simon You are American Idol Do not let the public Down.

I disagree with the comment on letting the show die down,I say lets see where it is going this season.I would like to see different judges, this show seems like the judges are in competion.I admire Simon for his direct no hold comment's.I am not saying do away with Randy and Paula but You cant always wear youre Heart on Youre sleeve.Simon Rocks.I would like to see Paula in Ryan Position and Ryan being a Judge.

l think Josiah Leming should have been put throught!!, so much so that l refuse to watch American Idol anymore, its gone past its sell by date, needs a fresh panel and approach, poor Joshua, little do they know, l hope you go on to greater stardom, as for the show, who cares anymore!

This is the first year I have watched American Idol, and have to say that although I think Josiah is rather charming, and my heart went out to him when he didn't make it to the finals, I don't think his rendition of Grace Kelly was that great. Maybe I am wrong to compare him to Mika, but Josiah's range is half of what Mika's is, and I was not very impressed.

The thing that I found most amusing was that Mika had gone to Simon to get a record contract, and Simon turned him down, saying that no one would like his type of music. I don't know why Simon was so impressed when he doesn't even like Mika's music, that made no sense to me.

If you haven't heard Mika's "Grace Kelly" please do!!!

What about Kyle? He so should have gotten in. He was way better than lots of the other guys. I agree with Simon(for once) Kyle would have been a fan favorite!! Also the thing with Josiah! I still like the show, but the judges made the wrong picks this year.

Let me get this straight, the two supposed "front runners" for this season on AMERICAN Idol are from Ireland and Australia, and both with previous record deals? Ha! No wonder I stopped watching after Season 6!
