J.Lo's Babies Bring in the Bucks

By Mike Krumboltz

A few years ago, Jennifer Lopez was everywhere you looked. Since then, the dashing diva has dialed back her public persona, giving the public an opportunity to become obsessed with other over-exposed celebrities. Well, move over, Paris! J.Lo. is back in the Buzz thanks to her unborn twins.

You see, a celebrity with a bun in the oven has certain inalienable rights. Among them is the right to sell baby photos to the highest bidder. And that's exactly what Lopez and husband Marc Anthony have done. The pair sold exclusive rights to People magazine for six million dollars (reportedly). Sheesh, People could have created its own bionic man for the price of these pics.

While Ms. Lopez has yet to announce the names of her impending miracles, we thought a look at the most popular baby name searches may help her in her quest. Below are the top twenty from the past week, all yours for the bargain price of zero million dollars. Enjoy!

By Mike Krumboltz

Ex-hottie Britney Spears has done it again, giving birth to her second son in as many years. The lad's name has yet to be released, but rumor has it he's been dubbed "Sutton Pierce Federline" (or "Su-Fed"). Searches on Britney jumped 169% on the news, and queries on "britney spears baby," "britney spears son name," and "britney spears birth" also skyrocketed.

We considered sending Britney a balloon bouquet, but instead we'll honor the occasion by taking a look at the most popular "baby name" searches. Britney, if you're reading, maybe this will help you and K-Fed choose a name for your next kid (due to appear in 12 months).

What's in a Name?

By Erik Gunther
Sat, April 22, 2006, 9:00 pm PDT
The decision of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes to name their precious bundle Suri gave stargazers another opportunity to analyze the whims of baby name picking. Celebrity baby names are a perennial favorite of folks who love to poke fun at the wackiness of Hollywood.

But do the names celebs choose deserve ridicule? Do we really need another Madison, Matthew, or Ashley populating the playgrounds of America? The choice of name is wrapped up in so many social norms and aspirational feelings that it becomes overwhelming for prospective parents. That's where the Web comes in!

Searches on "baby names" are always among our top queries, but we wanted to check out what types of baby names are buzzin' right now. Here are the top 20 in Search...

  1. Unique Baby Names
  2. Indian Baby Names
  3. Irish Baby Names
  4. Muslim Baby Names
  5. Italian Baby Names
  6. African Baby Names

  2. African American Baby Names
  3. Biblical Baby Names
  4. Hawaiian Baby Names
  5. Arabic Baby Names
