Mariah Carey. To some, the name inspires a kind of post traumatic stress. "Where were you when 'Glitter' hit theaters," these lost souls ask each other. But to more resilient folks, the songstress inspires a very different feeling—an uncontrollable urge to part with disposable income.
Ms. Carey recently posted her 18th number one single on the Billboard Hot 100, and passed music royalty in the process. The song, "Touch My Body," pushed Mariah past Elvis Presley and into second place for the number of chart topping records. The only act standing in her way is the mighty Beatles.
News of Carey's success hit the Buzz hard. An article from Yahoo's OMG received a number of hits and similar posts from US Weekly and PhillyBurbs.com garnered attention as well. Mariah also draws more than ten times as many searches as Elvis proving that her domination is complete. Well, almost. While Mariah can boast more musical hits, Elvis will always have the better film career.
