What People Want to Know About Tiger Woods
No matter how Tiger Woods fares in today's U.S. Open playoffs, he will come out on top with searchers.
Something about the golf icon—his tremendous athletic skill, his background, his family, his smile, a magic combination of all of the above—excites an astonishing amount of buzz every time he swings a driver or makes a real estate purchase.
Since the competition at Torrey Pines began, we've logged a surge in sports lookups like "tiger woods u.s. open," "tiger woods tee time," and "tiger woods caddie." However, the bulk of the Woods-related queries have focused on the golfing legend himself. Here are the top 20 non-golf things people wanted to know yesterday about Tiger Woods...

Take Two... These Two, Please
In the days before the Internet, a journalist could let loose a few profane words, send a bikini shot to a married man, or be completely without a clue without many repercussions.
Not anymore. Former Philly anchor filly Alycia Lane still rules the buzz roost, first by sending suggestive photos to pal and NFL Network anchor Rich Reisen (which were intercepted by his wife) then, later, striking a police officer. However two other broadcasters could overtake her in Search. Golf Channel anchor Kelly Tilghman recently returned from a two-week suspension, after joking that Tiger Woods' competitors should "lynch him in a back alley." (Cluelessness unfortunately can be a contagion: Searches for "golfweek noose" leapt more than 1,200% with that magazine cover's illustration choice in covering the scandal, which then led to a firing.)
Online investigations into Tilghman's background and, of all things, marital status continue, but the chastened anchor may see relief from further scrutiny. ESPN First Take anchor Dana Jacobson has her own one-week boot, thanks to a drunken display that was too dirty even for a roast. The debacle has doubled her Buzz profile compared to Tilghman and launched her into the top 1,000 searches. Despite a protest, there hasn't been firm confirmation nor searches that Jacobson tried to be a poor woman's Kathy Griffin. Instead, ESPN said alleged profane comments referred to the University of Notre Dame's stadium view of a mural. Lookups however did soar for her insult to Notre Dame. Don't mess with the Fighting Irish.

Meet Anna Rawson
She's the next big thing. The person you'll be searching on for the next decade. You'll probably grow tired of her, but you'll still search on her name as if possessed. Behold the future! Behold Anna Rawson!
The model-turned-golfer is blowing up in Buzz, currently resting among our top 100 overall searches. That's huge, folks... Orson Welles huge. One look at Rawson's pictures and it's easy to understand the infatuation. Objectively speaking, she's quite fetching and must inspire a drooling gallery wherever she plays.
Naturally, folks are most interested in seeing photos of the gorgeous golfer. Searches on "anna rawson pictures" and "anna rawson photos" are both way above par. Also spiking are queries for "anna rawson lpga" and "anna rawson model." Men dominate the lookups, accounting for 88% of all searches on the lovely linkswoman.
She's already won more than her share of adoring fans. Can Rawson become a true champion by winning tournaments like a certain Tiger? If she does, the buzz (and endorsement) possibilities are endless.

Schwing and a Miss
Chivalry ain't what it used to be. Now, instead of challenging someone to a duel, you simply threaten them with a lawsuit. At least that's what Tiger Woods did when his wife, Elin Nordegren, was lampooned in an Irish magazine.
What exactly caused Tiger to bare his (lawyers') teeth? Apparently Dubliner Magazine falsly claimed nude pictures of the fair Ms. Nordegren could be found on a number of "adult web sites." The tabloid asserts this was a joke and not meant to be taken seriously, but Woods failed to see the humor.
Nevertheless, Ms. Nordegren dominated the Buzz in the same way her husband dominates the links. Six of the top ten movers were related to fetching former model, including "elin nordegren pics," "tiger woods wife," and plain ol' "elin." The bickering is bound to blow over eventually, but until Lee Trevino has a wardrobe malfunction on the 18th green, this spat will remain golf's sexiest (and most searched-for) story.

The Man in the Bright Green Jacket
Here at the Buzz, the only guy in green we know much about is Mr. Green Jeans. But golf-savvy searchers are making Search swing as they hunt for a guy in a green jacket. After winning the Masters golf tournament this weekend, searches for Phil Mickelson went well above the hole, up 1,200% into the top 600 daily searches. Mickelson's win at Augusta, his second, came at the expense of some other players in Search, including Tiger Woods (+54%), Fred Couples (+497%), Vijay Singh (+179%), and Chad Campbell (-57%).
All things Masters were on the Buzz fairway this week. "PGA" birdied into the top 300 searches, and "masters golf" putted into the top 200. Even "augusta national golf club" wedged up into the top 5,000 searches. Strangely, searches were way under par for "green jacket."
Par for the course, we'll leave you with a list of the top 10 golf searches...
