September 11th: Seven Years Later
Today marks the seventh anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Memories of the day's tragic events came flooding back in Search.
Across the country and around the world, people looked up everything from "9/11 photos," to "twin towers," to "pentagon memorial." Queries on former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani surged as did lookups for Osama bin Laden and al qaida. There were highly specific searches on stuff like "united 93 flight plan," "todd beamer," and "world trade center blueprints."
People were equally interested in ways to honor the victims of 9/11. Searches spiked on "9/11 memorials," "september 11th heroes," and "ground zero memorial." A joint visit to Ground Zero from Barack Obama and John McCain also sparked tremendous interest and respect within the Buzz.
