The Big Buzz for the Little Dog
Life has been good for the "Beverly Hills Chihuahua."
While not a critical success, that hasn't stopped those with—or without—kids in tow to throng to the pooch flick for some much-needed escapist entertainment. The flick has topped the box office for the last two weeks, according to a story in Yahoo! News.
These dogs are just like us: They talk! They wear cute outfits! They like snacks! With a setting of glamorous Beverly Hills and Drew Barrymore voicing the heroine doggie, the movie has been top dog, grossing $52.5 million in its 10-day total, and edging out more serious fare as "Body of Lies."
While searches on "chihuahua movie" surged almost 1,000% in the last 30 days, look-ups on the tiny dogs haven't budged. Just a few months ago the dog was making the top 20 breeds, but searches overall have slacked off. Although if you count "toy dog breeds," "mexican dog breeds," and "cute dog breeds" as an indication of interest in cuddly canines, then yes, Chihuahuas make the cut.An hour and-a-half with these four-legged friends seems to be more than enough for moviegoers not quite ready to live with one. If you haven't gotten your full Chihuahua fix, you can check out this little guy who emits radio waves from his little ears. We know. Ay, Chihuahua.
