Suri Cruise: Baby Buzz Edition
Oh, baby. First there was "bump watch." Then it was the race for celeb baby photos. Now Forbes.com has taken celeb-baby-mania to a whole new level by ranking the tiny A-listers for the second year in a row. Forget getting your kid into the top nursery school — this is the new kiddie "it" list every Hollywood mama will want to see her Mini Me make.
"Hollywood's Hottest Tots" (we know, eew) is super-exclusive: To make the cut, you have to be five years old and younger, and merit the most press clippings and blog mentions, plus get marks for consumer awareness and appeal of the celeb parents. Suri Cruise won out, well-coiffed head and luxe-clothed shoulders, above the rest.
Following behind the daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are the other kids that make us go ga-ga: The Jolie-Pitt clan's Shiloh, Zahara, and Pax. Hey, don't complain to us about the ranking — we're just the messenger.
Which made the Buzz Log wonder, are we suffering a shortage of celebutants, starlets, and Hollywood hotties to photograph and obsess over that their kids must step in and carry out our entertainment burden? Forbes's answer is, actually, yes. As the entertainment director for Us Weekly puts it: "It's much more fun to look at cute pictures of Suri than think about how much your 401(k) has decreased."
If Search is any indicator, we are so in denial. Escapist look-ups on "new photos of suri cruise" jammed the Search box 1,000% in just the last week, along with "suri cruise best dressed," "suri cruise bob haircut," and "suri cruise shoes."
Suri Cruise, at age two, is the new economic indicator. Maybe at age three she'll fix the bailout.
