Thanksgiving is no respite, some moment of rest in a hectic holiday season. Rather, America's recognition of its New World roots stands out as a centerpiece that at once honors family and the nation. The year so far has been delirious, exhilarating, frightening and exhausting in so many aspects. Today's the day to appreciate what the country has gone through in 2008 and for the past few hundred years.
