Larry Flynt Needs Your Help
The government has bailed out Detroit, investment banks, and insurance giants. Now, another once infallible industry is seeking a little relief: the adult entertainment business.
According to several sources within the Buzz, Hustler founder Larry Flynt and Joe Francis of "Girls Gone Wild" fame have asked U.S. taxpayers for a $5 billion bailout. In a tongue and cheek article, the AFP reports that the "limp economy" has caused folks to cut back on their adult entertainment spending. And while the $13 billion a year industry is "in no fear of collapse," Mr. Francis feels it is better to not take unnecessary chances. Safety first, folks.
But, wait. It's not just about the companies themselves. Mr. Flynt argues that it's the customers who are suffering. Red-blooded Americans are "too depressed to be sexually active," says Flynt. As proof, he cites the 22% decrease in sales of XXX DVDs, according to TMZ.
Stay tuned to see if the proposal gets any official traction. We don't know about you, but we'd love to see the reaction of Senator Orrin Hatch.
