This weekend, Prince Harry steps into another public relations mess, but Fergie— the nonroyal variety—gets married. And the New York Times breaks a big Middle East story. Just a few of the stories that Buzz users clicked on this weekend ...
Prince Harried
The royal podiatrist is being called on once again to remove Prince Harry's foot from his mouth. The prince's office issued an apology on Sunday after the British newspaper News of the World posted on its website a video in
which the third in line to the British throne uses racist language to describe Pakistanis and Arabs. Harry shot the footage in 2006 while waiting with his
platoon in the departure lounge of an airport. This isn't the first time the prince has courted controversy: Four years ago he
attended a costume party dressed in a Nazi uniform. Perhaps the racist language will, at least, distract another royal from a more personal affront. "Granny,
I've got to go," said Harry later in the video, faking a call to Queen Elizabeth. "Send my love to the corgis. And Grandpa. God save you."
Bush, Israel, and Iran
President Bush has been described as, among other things, the most pro-Israel chief executive in U.S. history. But
the New York Times reports today that the
president held the line when it came to aiding Israel in a planned attack on Iran's nuclear complex. The
Israelis requested advanced bunker-busting bombs, the report said, as well as refueling equipment and permission to
fly over Iraq en route to Iran's main nuclear facility. The Times cited "tense exchanges" with Israel as spurring
the White House to increase intelligence-sharing and to divulge covert U.S.
actions intended to sabotage the Iranian nuclear program. Israel concluded that without American help, it
could not effectively strike a decisive blow against the site, the report said.
The marriage of Fergie and Josh
And now for some really important news. Buzz users showed mucho interest Saturday in the wedding of the Black Eyed Peas vocalist Stacy Ferguson, aka Fergie,
to actor Josh Duhamel. People magazine called
the event a "white wedding fantasy" and reported the couple were married under "magnolia trees filled with thousands
of white roses." Furthermore, the bride "carried a white bouquet of flowers studded with crystals." The wedding
gown was Dolce & Gabbana and the rings H.Stern, engraved with personal messages, and ... and ... well, we'd better
stop there. But you don't have to ...
