You know you've made it to icon status when you're played by an up-and-coming icon. To mark its 70th anniversary, Glamour magazine selected some young Hollywood stars to dress up as living legends (Lindsay Lohan channeling Madonna) and fictional characters (Emma Stone as the pink tutu'ed Carrie Bradshaw in a nod to single women everywhere).

Along with glamazons, the spread also features inspirational figures. America Ferrera portrays an earthy Dolores Huerta, an advocate for migrant farmers. Alexis Bledel sports the buff arms and confidence of Rosie the Riveter, an iconic image from World War II. Her likeness back then was plastered on posters around the country to encourage women to get out of the house and into the factory to aid the war effort.

Rosie's can-do spirit seems to have resonated for these times. Intrigued students of women's history caused lookups on "rosie the riveter" to rocket over 1,000%. There is even a Rosie for the 21st-century: But instead of the 1940s depiction, it's a thoroughly modern Michelle Obama sporting her iconic bare arms on a "we can do it" T-shirt. In these times, we need all the inspiration we can get.
