Megan Fox in a Killer Trailer

By Claudine Zap
Tue, July 07, 2009, 9:01 am PDT

In a new movie trailer that can only be viewed on the Web, high school boys are a threatened species. The horror flick, "Jennifer's Body," stars Megan Fox as a possessed cheerleader out to off males.

The red-band trailer (restricted audiences only) shows off the star's killer bod. And blood. And gore. The knockout from the summer blockbuster "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" has already been driving robots wild. This upcoming movie apparently shows an even wilder side.

The "silly/scary horror comedy," as Gawker put it, opens this fall (think of it as a back-to-school theme for bad girls). The script's the product of edgy talent Diablo Cody, who also penned "Juno." Meaning that in-between all the scary moments, the trailer teases some darn funny lines: Fox as bloodthirsty cheerleader refers to boys as "agents of Satan with really awesome haircuts."

The revenge fantasy also stars Amanda Seyfried and Adam Brody. The official in-theater trailer will roll before showings of "Bruno," which opens July 10. Let the bloodbath begin.

Alien Invasion Video Stirs the Web

By Claudine Zap
Thu, July 02, 2009, 3:45 pm PDT

Okay, humans. This is not a drill. It's the summer movie season and the aliens are upon us: Time to pick a side.

The alien invasion flick "District 9" produced by Peter Jackson isn't out for another month. But a video warning of aliens on earth has hit the Web, sending humans searching for more details. You can see the "safety alert" video here. (Stick around to try out the video game, too.)

The documentary-style movie preview shows the aftermath of a non-human invasion into South Africa. Freaked-out humans speak directly into the camera about the fear of the alien life that's shacked up in the slums of their city. Seems that everyone can agree, the aliens should just pick up and go home. You can view the eerie trailer here.

One-day searches soared an other-worldly 262% for "district 9." Queries on other unearthly topics also peaked for "district 9 movie," "district 9 wiki," and "district 9 trailer." We assure you that we will also be monitoring the situation and will alert you should other signs of non-human invasions (or movies of said non-humans) appear. Buzz Log out.

The Return of Michael Moore

By Mike Krumboltz
Thu, June 18, 2009, 3:02 pm PDT

Few people elicit such a "love him or hate him" response quite like Michael Moore. The rotund rabble-rouser is known for his provocative pictures on everything from health care to terrorism.

Moore's last film, "Slackers Uprising," didn't cause much of an uproar. However, his new flick is poised to put the left-leaning provocateur back in the Buzz. From what we can tell, the film is still untitled. Most searchers are calling it "Save our CEOs."

You can check out the trailer at Yahoo! Movies. Afterwards see if you agree with this Newsweek blogger who wonders if the big man from Michigan has finally jumped the shark.

New Moon Mania

By Mike Krumboltz
Mon, June 01, 2009, 3:53 pm PDT

Other than Sacha Baron Cohen landing fanny-first on an understandably agitated Eminem, the biggest story of MTV's Movie Awards had to be the trailer for "New Moon" (aka "Twilight 2"). The much anticipated clip premiered during the ceremony and set off a firestorm of searches.

Throughout Sunday evening and well into Monday, lookups for "New Moon trailer" soared 388% until it landed among our top 100 overall queries. Related searches on "official new moon trailer" (+451%) posted huge gains as well. Why the need to search on the word "official"? Dedicated (some might say "obsessed") fans have created their own pseudo-trailers to "New Moon" and posted them online. While their efforts are no doubt appreciated, Twi-hards want to see the real deal.

As is often the case on Yahoo!, star Robert Pattinson was absolutely huge in the Search box. Queries on the brooding heartthrob were up 30% — more impressive than it sounds considering that he's perpetually popular. Also seeing a surge following the MTV gala: "are robert pattinson and kristin stewart dating?". Everything we've read says they're just good friends. Still, Twi-hards can dream, can't they?

Sea Creature Feature Causes Web Frenzy

By Claudine Zap
Thu, May 14, 2009, 11:54 am PDT

Giant prehistoric sea creatures destroying the California coast? And Deborah Gibson (yes, that Deborah Gibson) is the only one who can save the world? Be afraid. Be very afraid. "Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus" may never come to a theater near you, but the trailer is everywhere since its debut on MTV.com this week.

The schlocky sci-fi thriller destined for the discount bin (it's direct to DVD) has already been viewed over 250,000 times on YouTube. As the video spread on the Web, searches on the monster movie surged. Lookups on "sea monsters," "mega shark vs giant octopus," and "deborah gibson" all heated up the Search box.

While the creature feature will not be promoted at Cannes, film buffs everywhere can appreciate the combination of questionable production values, mega monsters of the deep in mortal combat, imminent danger to humankind (or at least California), and an '80s pop sensation as a star.

Really, what's not to like? You can preview the video yourself—then add the movie to your Netflix queue. Or search for it at your local DVD discount bin.
