Bitten by Buzz
We noticed a spike recently on "yellow sack spider" and shuddered a bit before investigating just what this arachnid was up to. Turns out some Austrians were in a panic over an invasion of the creepy crawler. The yellow sack's bite is described as "indeed painful, but not deadly." Whew!
Coincidentally, a friend of ours was just laid up in the hospital. Her condition? A severely infected cat bite (as in house cat). After being hooked up to an IV for a few days, our friend is thankfully on the mend.
We do, however, tend towards an anxious frame of mind. So this talk of bites got us wondering—who else's teeth (or venom) should we be worried about? We tracked down the top 20 "bite" searches with the hope that your interest in these subjects is purely theoretical.
Spidey Sense
Spinning a web through search, spiders are a creepy subject weaving buzz from curious bug watchers. After reading a news item about the slow evolution of the spider web, we were intrigued enough to analyze arachnid searches. Scientists may be able to trace the origin of the orb-style spider web back 110 million years, but our research into the top spider searches is a lot more timely. It's from last week. We ask your understanding as we present the top 20 spiders scurrying through Buzz...
