Rugby Is So Hott!
Rugby fans mark their supreme event every four years: the Rugby World Cup. Over the months of September and October this year, the International Rugby Board (IRB) is hosting the tournament in France, Wales, and Scotland. The guests? Teams and fans from 20 different countries.
Devotees of the sport have found plenty of ways to check in on their faves through the search box. Over the past week, searchers dialed up "rugby world cup results" (+517%) and "irb rugby world cup" (+152%), as well as "rugby world cup 2007," "rugby world cup schedule," "rugby shirt," "rugby rules," and plain old "rugby." Men between 35 and 54 years old are by far the most interested in getting those game results. In fact, dudes in general are searching on the sport more than women. Yeah, no surprise to us either.
One of this year's favorite teams is the New Zealand All Blacks, attempting to win the World Cup after a 20-year drought. Their intimidating haka, a Maori traditional dance that they perform before each game, is on every rugby fan's list of sights to see. Even homebound followers are checking out "all blacks haka video," "haka all blacks," and "new zealand all blacks haka." Will they succeed in bullying the other teams? Stay tuned through the tournament to see.
Megan Fox Is So Hott
In the upcoming "Transformers" film, Earth is the stage for a massive alien robot battle. Luckily for us, human-friendly Autobots and hot chick Megan Fox are on our side.
Best known for her roles in "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" and the TV show "Hope & Faith," Fox's star and buzz are rising. In anticipation of viewing her truck-driving talent against the evil Decepticons, fans have dialed up "megan fox actress" (+616%), "megan fox photos" (+215%), and "megan fox hot" (+63%).
Besides acting, foxy Megan's attentions are devoted to two things—her tattoos and fiancé Brian Austin Green (+246%). Searchers also show a keen interest in "megan fox tattoos," partly due to the mystery surrounding how many she actually has (reports vary between five and nine). As for the hubby-to-be, well, he'll always be David Silver of "Beverly Hills 90210" to us.

Plies Is So Hott
The latest rapper you've never heard of? Perhaps it's Plies. Searches on the 29-year-old rhymer out of Florida have doubled over the last week and we see no signs of slippage.
He's been recognized by our chief trend spotters—folks under 24. An astounding 80% of his searches come from fans under the age of 25. With that sort of teen appeal, it's just a matter of time before he breaks big nationwide. Currently, most of his buzz rises from the South with Alabama, Florida, and Georgia leading the way.
Related searches on the ribald rapper have also had large spikes over the past week. Queries on "plies pictures" (+673%), "rapper plies" (+135%), "plies shawty lyrics" (+130%) all had triple-digit percentage increases.
Speaking of "Shawty," the first single from his upcoming debut album continues to grow in Search. Buzz on the tune is up 101% this week and its success bodes well for the album, which is set to drop on August 7. With almost two months to go, you still have plenty of time to familiarize yourself with the rise of Plies.
The Apocalypse Is So Hott
Time moves quickly in this new millenium, so much so that we're already looking forward to 2012 (+299%). It will be an exciting year. We'll cheer at the thrills of the Summer Olympics in London. And during the next transit of Venus, we'll gaze at the heavens. Plus, there's that whole end-of-the-world thing.
Now that the year 2000 hubbub is in our collective rearview, the latest doomsday to enter the buzz is December 21, 2012. If you follow the Mayan calendar, you can't miss the day. That's because—cue ominous music—it's the last one. A host of dire predictions are set to coincide in 2012—everything from alien invaders to the ascension of the anti-Christ to a new psychic awakening.
All this apocalyptic thinking touched a nerve in the world of Search. Anxious queries for "end of the world 2012" (+254%), "apocalypse," (+43%) and "end of the world" (+25%) all loom on the horizon. Don't ask us if we believe in these prophetic voices from the future, 'cause the Buzz is all about the here and now.
Shia LaBoeuf is So Hott
Recent lessons from the life and times of young actor Shia LaBeouf:
Nabbing the ShoWest "Male Star of Tomorrow" award nets you a few newspaper stories and secures you a spot next to such distinguished alumni as Brad Pitt ('93 winner), Matt Damon ('98), and, uh, Ryan Gosling ('04). If only anyone cared.
But kicking up even the hint of a rumor that you're starring in the fourth installment of "Indiana Jones"? Hello, buzz. Once word hit the Web that the 20-year-old star may (repeat may) appear as the daring archaeologist's son in the much-awaited sequel, his buzz blasted upwards—leaping more than 1,000% over the past week.
Suddenly a celeb for all ages, Shia's drawing interest from both 35 to 44-year-olds and teens. The middle-aged group may simply be impatient for the adventures of Indy and company to return to the big screen. The younger set, though, is definitely focused on Shia. Searches for "shia laboeuf pictures," "new movie," "girlfriend," and "shirtless" have all jumped. We just want to know if he'll get to handle the bull whip.
